Blantons single barrel was created by one of the Blantons master distillers, Elmer T. Lee. This single barrel release was produced in memory of Colonel Albert B. Blanton who was Elmers mentor. 

The singlebarrel was first release in 1984 just before Elmer was set to retire. From this Elmer created what is considered to be a new category of Bourbons, known as the 'super premium' category!
